After teaching at Galileo the past seven years, former teacher, Ms. Loan Ly, recently decided to open a Vietnamese cafe around the Russian Hill neighborhood. As a young girl, she had always wanted to open up her own business while also staying connected with the community around her.
After teaching Economics to students for many years, Ms. Ly decided to take a big leap and open a business of her own. She hopes that one day she can go back to teaching and explain to her students what it takes for someone to run their own business. She named her cafe, The Soap Box Cafe, in hopes that one day people will come to her shop and speak about community issues, like when people stand on a soap box. The cafe serves a variety of foods including vietnamese sandwiches, spring rolls, bagels, salads, and coffee.
