Excited for the new Star Wars? We are.
Ever since the announcement for the new Star Wars released on December 18, 2015, fans have been excited. Many theaters around the United States have already sold out all of their first showings since the release of the new trailers.
Luke Skywalker, who fought along side Han Solo, Leia Organa, and Chewbacca during the Rebellion Era for the Rebel Alliance were the main characters of the original trilogy. Founder of Star Wars, Gorge Lucas said that Luke Skywalker is the most powerful Jedi ever. Anyone in the Skywalker family are the most sensitive force users.
However, according to the trailers, Leia, Han, and Chewbacca still remain in the film, but Luke Skywalker is not seen.
Why not? We did some research and came up with a few theories based on the Star Wars Canon and the timeline.
Luke is dead
Based on characters shown in the new Star Wars trailers and posters, Luke could’ve been dead. According to Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi Wan’s master, and the Jedi Council, Anakin Skywalker could bring balance to the force but he never balanced the force in any of the Star Wars movies nor the Clone Wars series. This gives Disney a reason to introduce new characters; if that is the case, Leia, Luke’s sister, could show off her skill in the force making her the potential balancer of the force.
Luke turned to the dark side
The trailer gives fans hints that there are multiple characters on the dark side of the force. Since they haven’t seen Luke Skywalker yet, there could be a possibility that he has turned to the dark side. There is a possibility that Luke Skywalker wanted to finish what his father his started: To balance the force. If he turned to the Dark Side, Luke Skywalker would have knowledge of both sides of the force. If he understood both sides of the force, Luke Skywalker could bring peace to the galaxy and restore the Je’daii (organization before the Jedi order).
Luke went on exile
Growing up, Luke never wanted to fight for the Rebel Alliance. He just wanted to live his life as a peaceful farm boy. In the previous episode of Star Wars, Luke Skywalker only fought for the Rebel Alliance because the Empire killed his aunt and uncle.
Ultimately, Luke Skywalker’s alliance still remains a mystery.
