Gamers Delight: Video Games to look forward to

This should be an exciting year for gamers! With 2017 in full swing, there are a number of titles that could soak up plenty of your homework time. The staff at galileopress took the time to highlight those games you should be on the lookout for.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake

Genre: RPG

Release Date: December 29, 2017

Platforms: PlayStation 4

Storyline: ShinRa, a corrupt company, is draining the energy out of the planet and conducting experiments on living things causing environmental and social calamities, such as air and sea pollution, overpopulation, high drug rate and the objectification of women. Cloud, a mercenary, and Avalanche, a rough and tough organization, join forces to put an end to ShinRa and other enemies who get in their way.

Why you should play it: It has been 20 years since the original was released. With the new and improved technology available, Square Enix has decided to remake one of their biggest sellers in Final Fantasy history. Based on the trailer, not only do the graphics look amazing but the fighting style has remained the same, staying true to the Final Fantasy series. If you are looking for a single-player rpg that has been considered legendary, this game is for you.

Outlast 2

Genre: Survival Horror

Release Date: TBA 2017

Platforms: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One

Storyline: A journalist named Blake Langermann, along with his wife Lynn, are roaming the Arizona desert to explore the murder of a pregnant woman, Jane Doe. Unfortunately, Blake and Lynn get separated in a helicopter crash, and Blake has to find his wife while traveling through a village inhabited by a sect who believes the end of days is upon them.

Why you should play it: Outlast 2 is part two of the indie horror stories[Outlast and Outlast: Whistleblower] that has terrified more than 3.5 million players. The original outlast game is known for hiding, the player’s only way of defense, adding to the overall eeriness of the game. From the past successes of the previous games, Outlast 2 should also be expected to be a big hit.

 

Detroit: Become Human

Genre: Action-Adventure

Release Date: December 29, 2017

Platforms: PlayStation 4

Storyline: In a futuristic setting, “Detroit: Become Human” is a game that revolves around an artificial intelligence robot named “Kara” who is created by an android company, as a product. However, tensions rise when Kara instantly develops human feelings which is considered defective, and is meant to be destroyed by the company that assembled her.
Why you should play it: Not only is the premise interesting, but the developers Quantic Dream is known for crafting games heavily based on story and the choices you make, which affect the outcome of every scene. Both of Quantic Dream’s previous games, “Heavy Rain” and “Beyond: Two Souls,” were both successful and “Detroit: Become Human” looks like it should continue that trend.

 

Horizon Zero Dawn

Genre: Action role-playing

Release Date: February 28, 2017

Platforms: PlayStation 4

Storyline: The game takes place 1,000 years into the future, where nature has taken over earth again, and is dominated by advanced robots. It’s protagonist Aloy seeks out of her shelter to understand the world and reclaim mankind’s place in it.

Why you should play it: The game takes place in a massive open world, that can be explored to your heart’s content. There is also a different combination of gameplay styles, such a stealth, action, and strategies. In addition, reviewers given the game rave reviews & have stated that the game’s combat is its best feature.

 

Prey

Genre: First-person shooter

Release Date: May 5th, 2017

Platforms: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One

Storyline: The story follows Morgan Yu, and his struggle to survive the dangers of the space station Talos I, which is infested with escaped alien creatures known as the Typhon. After science research went wrong, the passengers on the ship must fight for their lives, and keep the Typhon away from planet earth.
Why you should play it: This looks like another great addition to the survival-horror genre. The trailer sends chills up spines, and it’s also looks action packed. There seems to be numerous amounts of abilities and multiple unique ways to develop Morgan’s weaponry and skills to tackle the aliens head on.
