Crash Testing with Eggs

Ms. Stollmeyer’s Physics class held an egg drop competition during the 5th and 6th period last Friday 11/30. The project of this experiment is to reenact a car crash at 35 mph into a brick wall. Students were required to include materials such as straws to act as a chassis and bubble wrap as airbags.

After the experiment, the students have to calculate Force, Mass, and Acceleration it also teaches the mechanics of high velocity.

Students were given two weeks to create a device that would protect a raw egg from a drop off of the Galileo balcony. The raw egg will act like a human in a car crash. The force of the impact will be equivalent to a car hitting a brick wall at 35 mph.
