Boy’s Soccer Fall Short In The Playoffs

The Galileo boys soccer team (9-0-2) faced off against the Lincoln Mustangs (7-3-4) on Tuesday, February 19th in a playoff matchup at Crocker Amazon. Unfortunately, the Lions lost 3-1 and were eliminated from the playoffs.

The Lions came into the game is the top team from the second division, while Lincoln was the fourth seed in division one. Senior defender Antonio H. said, “We were nervous but we still came into the game with the hope that we could beat them and move onto the next round.”

The Lions held Lincoln to one goal in the first half, and after the Lions scored to tie the game 3 minutes into the second half on a 30 yarder by junior striker Kidus S. the team believed they could pull off the upset. However, it wasn’t to be, as Lincoln came back to score two more in the second half. “We played with our hearts out there, but they got into our heads,” said Antonio.

The Lions are not disappointed with the way their season turned out though. as they came a long way and achieved their goal of reaching the playoffs. “We improved a lot over the season and we formed a brotherhood that I’m gonna cherish for a long time,” said senior midfielder Aadhar G.
