Lion Dance Me

By Susan Wu, Staff Writer

The Lion Dance Me club, which includes 6 Galileo students, performed their traditional Chinese art, at “The Longevity Walk”, an event at Portsmouth Square on Saturday, October 5th, which helped raise money for the seniors. The Lion Dance Me club has been performing at different events since 2013 when students from different high schools came together to learn lion dance. The club focuses on youth empowerment for students as well as giving them a chance to meet new people, and to work on developing their teamwork & leader skills. Norman Lau, creator of Lion Dance Me, said, “They say lion dance is a dying tradition, but I think it has yet to be discovered… when people understand what it is and what skills it takes, then we will see a movement into the mainstream world.”
