The Galileo girls’ varsity soccer team currently sits in 2nd place as they try to secure the 2nd  playoff spot in division 2. The Lioness are just 1 point ahead of the SFI Huskies with just 2 games left on the schedule.

Over last week, the team tied against the Academy Wolves (3-3) on Wednesday, February 12, but took home an easy win (5-0) against the Wallenberg Bulldogs on Friday, February 7th, making this their 5th win of the season, to go along with 2 losses and 1 tie.

According to head coach, Rachel Scott, the Lioness’ stellar defense in the game against Wallenberg was led by sweeper Julia Lim, who made sure no goals were scored. On offense forwards Maia Piomelli and Yovanna Sanchez, mid-fielders Kelly Li and Cheyenne Chow helped provide the scoring.

Coach Scott says,“We are excited for the rest of the season with 2 tough games coming up.”

Forward Rania Bouiri added, “I’m excited to see where this team takes us.”
