ROUGH START FOR GALILEO BASEBALL

By Dollar Dacasin, Staff Writer

The Galileo baseball team opened up their season with a blowout loss in a scrimmage game on February 13th against Mission (7-1). The drama of the game was taken out of the game after the first inning as the Lions went down quickly and quietly while at bat, and then sophomore Gabe S. struggled on the mound as This allowed Mission scored 5 runs before finally getting out of the inning.

Gabe settled down in the 2nd inning, not allowing any more runs, which was followed by junior Dollar Dacasin coming in to pitch and shutting down the Bears as well.

In the top of the 3rd inning,  junior Nick R. managed to score on a balk by Mission’s pitcher which provided the only run of the game for the Lions.

Mission managed to score a couple more runs in the later innings, making the final score 7-1 in favor of Mission.

After the game,  “Even though we lost our first scrimmage, this just shows we need to put in more work to get better,” said junior Ben C. “It sucks that we lost the way we did and struggled the way we did, but it’s ok. We can learn from this scrimmage,” junior Nick R. added.
