After months of preparation, all of the classes have been tirelessly practicing, before and after school as well as during lunch, in an effort to prepare for this year’s Song & Yell. These practices have also included discussing how they will implement their theme into their storyline as each class attempts to fit their skit into their class theme; summer (Class of 2024), winter (Class of 2025), autumn (Class of 2026), spring (Class of 2027) which all fall under this year’s theme: Seasons.
Starting in September the seniors practiced for their summer theme. They wanted to have the dance simulate a summer party like it was the last day of school and they would go party afterward. In terms of songs they chose, they originally wanted to play summer songs but then they changed it to songs that are more well-known & give off summer vibes. For their story, they wanted to make it a fun and goofy love story. “Overall I think we just want to make it memorable because it’s our last Song and Yell ever,’’ said Senior Activities Chairperson Amelia P.
Similar to the senior class, the juniors opted for a love story, connected to their theme of winter. Their skit is going to be comprised of partner dances and various Christmas songs, with songs like “Underneath the Christmas Tree”, “Let it Go” and “You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch”. “I think we’re gonna do good because it’s our junior year so we’re gonna be a more experienced dancing for Song and Yell.” Says Junior Arjhay Kani.
With the theme of fall, the sophomores decided to switch it up a bit by basing their skit on a football game where everyone joins in. They wanted to make their skit very Halloween and autumn-themed. The sophomore storyline is unrevealed but Senior BVP Connie H. says, “They are doing very well so far,” and, “she is very excited to see them perform”.
With a skit about blossoming into high school, the freshman are playing off the idea of both their theme of spring and just coming into high school. Their skit centers around them going to a dance and putting yourself out there to meet new people. The songs that the freshmen will be using are very upbeat & popular dance songs. “I think we’ll do okay considering we are freshmen,” says freshman Nathan Lee.
