Poll: Contributing to the Galileo community

What makes a good school? Having good academics. Having good teachers, and being able to take fun classes are some factors. But one of the better reasons would be having a good community within the school. We at the Galileo press asked, “What’s the last thing you have done to make Galileo a better community?”

“I sponsored the Multicultural assembly which I hope shows and teaches us all the unique cultural traditions that different communities have and we were able to see that on stage in a grand way, and next semester I’m starting a mediation program.”

Ms Jackie, Peer Resource Teacher

“One thing is that hand shake, whether you play football or not, you’re with us and you’re part of the gang. Another thing is just being available when students need help whether that’s opening the weight room or talking with students about their life. I just try to make this school feel like a safe space even though it’s really not, but the administration is trying their hardest.”

Coach Nick, Football coach and Security guard

“I joined the student council and I’m nice to students. I’m a historian, so I take pictures and document the freshman year. I try to make new students feel comfortable and well adjusted.”

Isabella L.,Freshmen

“I raised money for the Modern Narrations club. The club goes to conferences and we discuss modern events. I raised money for transportation so the club could get to the conferences.”

Teney B.,Sophmore

“I’m in ASB so I’m planning the boat dance right now. Right now were trying to figure out our budget for the venue and catering. And right now I’m looking into grants to see how we can make events better. I also ask people what kind of events they want to see in the future.”

Rhianne B.,Junior

“I try to be respectful in the hallways, and I’ll clean up after myself. I try to keep the bathrooms clean And occasionally I’ve taken the soap dispensers and put them back in their holders.”

Hendricks S,.Junior

“I’ve picked up some trash, and I talk with my peers. I ask people about their day, and check in to see how they’re doing. I also help my peers with their work like proofreading and leaving comments on their writing.

Sarah S.,Senior

“I help newcomer students get familiar with the school, it’s a club called Dreamers and it’s a safe space for newcomer students who just arrived in the US. I organize activities like games and stuff.”
