Galileo All Cities Swimming

With the swim season coming to a close, the Galileo Swim Team competed in the All-Cities race on May 10th. While expectations were modest, every team member gave their full effort in the pool.

Although the Varsity team didn’t deliver a standout performance this year, senior swimmer Kenny Tang secured a spot at States.
“I’m frustrated that I couldn’t get the double [to win both events], I ended up getting second for 100 fly and only qualified for 50 free”.

Meanwhile, the JV team had a solid showing, with four swimmers earning medals in their individual events. Senior Alex L. placed third in the JV 100 Freestyle 1:15.30.

“I was really nervous racing all the schools in SF.” Alex L. said, adding “This was my first year swimming an individual event for swimming. I spent a lot of time in the gym and in the pool working on myself to improve my times”.

On the other hand, Senior Adam C. placed second in the JV 100 Freestyle finishing with 1:02.35 and had worked until he was satisfied with his results, this is his first year locked in for swimming and his results were outstanding.
“I hated myself , I avoided mirrors because I genuinely couldn’t look at myself , if I didn’t work out or tried to enhance my physical form I would be somewhere I couldn’t even fathom. If my time for swimming didn’t drop it would keep me up at night.
While on the girls team, only sophomore Caitlin Y. placed first for the JV 200 Freestyle finishing with a 2:43.70.
“I spent a lot of time training inside and outside of the pool, I was also really surprised when I placed first”. Said Caitlin

This season ended off with a lot of new excited swimmers and they’re ready for next year’s swim team. With all the senior swimmers graduating it’s time for younger swimmers to step up and create history for the Galileo swim team.
