Finishing with a 14-0 record in conference play, the Galileo Varsity Baseball team won a promotion back to Division 1 by placing first and winning the D2 conference in. This is the team’s best conference record since 2023 when they last went 10-0.

During the regular season against conference opponents, the Lion’s longest streak of the season was 9 wins, but also 3 forfeits. A 21-2 win against Wallenberg was the team’s largest win during the 9 game stretch.
This season’s top performers were sophomore Zane R. who had a .566 batting average, 3 homeruns, 37 runs batted in and 0.66 ERA, and sophomore Elijah M. who had the highest on base percentage and 27 stolen bases.
“Going undefeated in conference play made me proud of our team and the work we put in paid off. It was a testament to our dedication for the game and comradery that we developed.” said senior right fielder Dylan N. who played his last season with the Lions.
Junior second baseman Hunter T. added, “It means a lot to us boys we’re very excited with what we’ve done with this season and I think our collaboration as a team and the effort we put in with that resulted in the 14-0. Coming back to D1, I want to put more emphasis on hitting and pitching because competition is going to be harder but we just want to match that and have similar results from this year.”
Unfortunately for the Lions, the Lions season ended with a heartbreaking loss against Mission in the playoffs. The Lions started the game up 2-0 until the Bears tied the game 2-2 in the 3rd inning. After the 3rd inning both teams would again tie things up 3-3, which led to extra innings where the Lions ended up falling short after giving up a 5-4 lead.
