Galileo turns 100 in 2021

100th birthdays means big celebrations and big gatherings. And currently, a planning committee—which includes Ms. Grinnell, members of the Galileo Athletic Association, and the PTSA president—has been proposing ideas to celebrate our school’s centennial anniversary.

One idea is a year long celebration with certain highlights like Song and Yell, the Homecoming football game, and school tours. Another event could be “A Day at Galileo,” which might look like a gathering in the courtyard and food trucks on Francisco street.

Mrs. Grinnell has worked at Galileo since 1972

“It is exciting that Galileo is approaching the 100th Anniversary Celebration!” says administrative assistant, Mrs. Grinnell, who has been at Galileo for 48 years.

However, the pandemic has made these activities tentative. Although vaccines are around the corner, it is uncertain if Galileo will get to have a big, in-person 100th birthday bash. Perhaps, like everyone else, Galileo Academy of Science and Technology will have to have a Zoom birthday for now.
