As the weather is getting colder and winter is approaching, Christmas is also right around the corner. Christmas is a perfect time to be at home with your family, opening gifts and enjoying Christmas movies on Netflix, so we made this list of Christmas movies as a Christmas movie guide for you and your family in no particular order.
We ranked the movies based off of the following criteria – 1. The Christmas vibes the movie gives off, 2. The humor in each movie, and 3. overall enjoyable story. Based off these 3 things we gave each movie a 5 gingerbread score.
The first movie that we chose is the first film of the fan favorite series Home Alone. A family friendly movie where the main character, eight years oldKevin, played by Macaulay Culkin, is forgotten at home as his family goes on vacation. He awakens to an empty house that he must protect by himself from 2 men looking to rob it. The movie is full of goofy pranks and funny moments. We would personally give this movie a 5/5 as it is one of the first movies that started the Christmas movie trend for us. It’s a great movie to watch with your family!
“HOME ALONE” 1990
We gave our number 2 spot to the animated movie, Klaus. The story is about the worst postman at the academy being given the post in a frozen town up North, where he discovers Santa Claus is hiding out. It is a heartwarming story full of Christmas spirit, and it has a lot of fun elements to it. We give it a 5/5. Although it is the only animated movie on the list, it is still just as fun as all the other movies, with a heartwarming story and a story that will put on a smile for you and your family.
“Klaus” 2019
In our third spot we have the classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas, This story tells the tale of one of Dr. Seuss’s most famous stories with everyone’s favorite Christmas hater, Grinch. Jim Carrey’s portrayal as the Grinch is hilarious and very unique. This movie is one of the funniest movies on this list and with an amazing cast, still very well known to this day. This can be watched by any age and still be entertained. Overall this movie has to be a 5/5 for the storyline and Christmas vibes.
“How The Grinch Stole Christmas” 2000
Coming in at our number four spot we have The Christmas Chronicles, A Netflix original with Santa as its protagonist, but not as a classic Santa everyone imagines. A group of kids come up with a plan to try and find Santa but their plan ends up not going the way they expected. Kurt Russell makes Santa more of a funny and relatable character with the way he portrays a new approach to him. For example, in one scene, Santa is being interrogated by the police about his doings. This movie will leave you loving a new version of everyone’s favorite saint Nicholas and enjoying December even more. Overall we give this movie a 4.5/5 for the action and comedy that it provides.
“The Christmas Chronicles” 2018
In our final spot we have Christmas Inheritance. This is a story set in December about a woman named Ellenwho will eventually take over the business of her father. An unfortunate turn of events leaves her to stay in a town inn and not be able to complete the task that her father gave her. In this inn where she stays at she finds a true “Christmas gift”.
