Seniors win senior night

Finishing their last home game, and sending off the seniors the right way during senior night, the Galileo softball team dominated the Mission Bears, 18-3 on April 16th.

Mission jumped out to an early 3-0 in the first inning, but after the first inning, senior pitcher Kaia B. completely shut out the Bears, not allowing another run the rest of the game.

“Kaia did really well as our pitcher, she struck out a lot of people,” says Freshman Sara C. and Stephanie L.

While Kaia was shutting down the Bears, the Lioness offense woke up and put up big numbers on the scoreboard. The highlight of the offense was sophomore Sienna L., hitting a base-clearing triple during the 4th inning. In the same inning, Kaia also hit a double towards center field. With the Lioness dominating at the plate, they ended up cruising to an easy victory.

With the Lions ahead by a wide margin, the Lions also showed some sportsmanship by trying to help the Bears score a few extra runs. “We were ahead by a lot, so we stepped off the base to give them a fighting chance to get more runs, but it also gave us opportunities to play more,” says Junior Kaitlyn L.

Overall the team made it a memorable senior day for the players who are graduating. “We played excellently, they were all supportive. I really like how everyone came together and made the seniors feel special, the team made fatheads for them, flowers, and they even ended off with a great win, which was an awesome experience,” says softball coach Mr. O.

The Lioness were hoping to continue their winning ways against the Washington Eagles

on Thursday, April 18th, but it turned into a scrimmage after the umpires didn’t show up. The Lioness have 3 more regular season games as they look to clinch a spot in the play-offs.
