Sports Poll

By Myles Chu, staff writer

Many of the sports team are starting to wind down their season while some are just getting started. For most of these athletes this is the first time playing on a team since the pandemic. With sports finally back, the Galileo press, wanted to ask athletes – “How do you feel about your sports teams this year, & what was the best or worst moments of the season for you?”

“This year has been going pretty good for sports. For tennis, right now is the best moment for us because we just made it to the playoffs. The worst moments were any time we’ve played against Lowell during this season.”

– Grace Zhen, 10th grade, Tennis

“I think our sports teams are doing pretty good this year. The JV basketball team is doing good defensively. For me, the best moment this season was when I got my jersey. The worst moment was when one of my teammates injured his leg.”

– Mahlon Crawford, 9th grade,Basketball, Power Forward

“The sports teams are pretty good, although I feel that they could make some improvements to become more successful. For the tennis team, it’s going pretty good so far because we’re in 4th place.”

– Kitty Liu, 10th grade, Tennis

“I feel like it [the team] was alright, but not many people knew about how to try out [for football]. The best moment for me is going to the games and playing in them, and the worst moments are the practices and how they started so early.”

Jamie Kariuki, 12th grade, Football, Defensive Back

“At first we were very excited about how we got new coaches. We were coached really well. The best moment for us is even though we didn’t do as well as we wanted to, we still ended the season strong.

Lily Li, 12th grade, Volleyball, Defensive Specialist

“I feel like the team is good but that more funding should go into the football program. Even though we got a new field I wish we could also get new equipment. The best moment for me was winning our first game [against Burton] while everyone was hating us and how the school was against us. The worst moment for us was the criticism from the school and how they had given up on us.”

– Frank Tiscareno, 11th grade, Football, Line Back Running Back

“The season has been good because there are new people this year and I like seeing new faces. There is also very good teamwork and our bond is tight. The best moment is that we got to perform at the welcome back assembly and I’m also  looking forward to the competition in December. The worst moment is at practice when we’re doing stunts at practice and failing ,but we always get back up and keep going.”
