By Francisco D, staff writer

The Galileo boy’s tennis team started off the season strong, crushing Balboa (5-0) on March 9th at Balboa. However, the team’s momentum was short lived as they’ve lost their last 3 matches – against Lincoln (3-2) on March 15, against Washington (5-0) on March 17, and against Lowell (3-2) on March 22.

In their win against Balboa, all 3 Galileo singles players beat their Balboa counterparts. #1 Galileo singles player, Kay Pham won in 3 sets (6-3, 4-6, 6-4), #2 Galileo singles player, Kenny Tang won in 3 sets (1-6, 6-4, 10-5), and #3 Galileo singles player, Kai Lee won in 3 sets (4-6, 6-3, 7-5)

The Galileo doubles players continued to pour it on against Balboa, once again dominating. #1 Galileo doubles players, Rich Wu and Shun Liu won in 3 sets (6-0 due to a forfeit, 3-6, 6-4), while #2 Galileo doubles players, Isrrael Martinez and Kyle Lin won by forfeit (4-0).

In terms of the matches that followed, the next 2 were both competitive & close, but the Lions were out of their league a little bit when it came to playing Lowell, the Lions were a little bit out of their league. Senior Larry Ma, said, “Lincoln and Washington were close matches, but against Lowell since they are the best team and have won the past 28 championships. They beat us pretty easily.”
