15+ Year Lioness Teacher at Galileo

By: Juliana Ramirez, Staff Writer

Ms. Aracely Sanchez has been part of the Galileo Staff for more than 15 years. She used to be a Counselor at local Marina Middle School and while working there, Galileo had an opening for jobs and she decided to apply and later got interviewed. She got the job because of her recent work experience at a school and 15 years later she still helps out students throughout their high school years. Before coming to Galileo, Ms. Sanchez finished her degree in early childhood development while working at an internship as a substitute for all grade levels.

Ms. Sanchez has always had an interest in Education, and in helping students out. But before her entering the education field she also had other dreams, which had to do with Arts and Clothing; especially a fashion designer. “I’ve always loved fashion and if I weren’t working here at Galileo, I would see myself as a designer or photographer,” says Ms.Sanchez . Having a coffee shop was one of her dreams but as of now, she doesn’t oppose her current career. One of the best things about her job here in Galileo is seeing the students graduate and the progress and change of the students over the years. “I enjoy helping our students out, and talking to them about their dreams, current obstacles and plans for their futures. It gives you a peek into their lives, and it makes me feel good to know that I can help them out.” says Ms. Sanchez

Galileo students graduating is what she calls her reward at the end of the year, seeing how far they have come is very “gratifying” for her.  And seeing how the school changes and the transition of population of students they get, because it now has more ethnic groups then 10 years ago. Apart from all the ups and downs in the past years she has gone through, Ms. Sanchez always enters the school with the same positive attitude as if were 10 years ago.
