Teacher on the move

By Brian Diaz, staff writer

While making his way across the country, from New York to San Francisco, Mr. Dixon has always focused his career on helping educate students in math.

Originally from Wisconsin, Mr. Dixon decided to become a teacher after working as a tutor during his college years. After graduating from UW Parkside, he moved to New York, working as a substitute teacher for 2 years. However, he wanted to be a full time teacher, so he moved to Las Vegas and landed his first high school teaching job at Cheyenne High School.

But after 3 years, Mr. Dixon decided to continue moving west, so he moved to San Jose and taught at Summit Charter for a year, but the school closed, so he was on the move once again and this time landed a job in Alameda at Nea High School, which he taught here during the year of distance learning. Mr. Dixon once again decided to move to San Francisco and landed a job at Galileo because he knew it was a high performing school.

After spending many years continuing to relocate, Mr. Dixon feels its time to settle down. He said, “I’m done. I’m really tired of moving is exhausting and do everything all over again “.
