Different High School every year

By Brian Diaz Staff Writer

Each school year has been different for me, starting at Abraham Lincoln High School has made me wonder what would have happened if I stayed longer there or in Antioch High School, or Mission High School, but just the thought that I was going to move made me regret not being more involved in each school . Now here in Galileo High School I will enjoy my last year of high school and I will make a lot of memories and try to be a little more involved.

I started my freshman year at Abraham Lincoln High School, and since middle school I made up my mind that I was going to join the football team. Each day on the train I was just thinking of the practices and games I was going to have. Then my mom told me that we were going to move eventually to Antioch, So the thought of football went from imagining the games to thinking whether I should join or not. I like to make a lot of memories and I am very friendly, but I knew that I was going to move, so I was not comfortable making memories with people I was not going to see anymore. So instead of playing football, I played video games with my teacher, and classmates and hung out with a few classmates. By the end of the year I was very disappointed, because instead of trying to put myself out there more and join the football team, I ended up doing almost nothing.

Sophomore year came and I enrolled in Antioch High School. The first day was a little awkward, but I was friends with a few seniors and juniors and they told me everything about the school. I  asked them about the football team, but they said the team only wanted juniors for some reason, so I couldn’t join at all. I did become more involved in the community of this school, compared to Lincoln though, and usually after school I was at the gym and met a number of people, some of them from the football team. I even started playing football with them after school. But halfway through the year we ended up with online classes started. Then we needed to move back to San Francisco, and I was very sad because I couldn’t even spend a whole year in this school, and I made a few friends, but it was time to say goodbye, I really regret not talking to them anymore. Back in San Francisco I was planning to go back to Abraham Lincoln, but I couldn’t, so instead I was enrolled at Mission High School for the rest of my sophomore year.

Junior year came and we were back in person, and many people were not comfortable and I was trying to find ways to be more involved in this school, but I was just not able. I got along with some teachers and I was friends with a few classmates, but I was not comfortable in the school. I was trying to become more involved, but there weren’t any clubs and at this point I didn’t want to join the football team anymore. While I was talking to one my friends he tell me to transfer to Galileo High School that it was great and very interesting, but I didn’t want to move again, this time I was not going anywhere I could I least spend my last two years of high school in Mission High School, but as I was at half of year, the school become very boring for me and I feel that I was not part of the community, so at the end I made mind and decided to transfer out to Galileo High School.

Now as a senior at Galileo many things have changed. My friend has introduced me to many new people. I don’t know if it was luck, but I like every single class that I have, and I know a lot more  people. I see a great community at Galileo with the many events and other great stuff that keep me updated at the school – things like “Song and Yell” or G-house. I had never been to a Homecoming dance, or seen events like the Halloween costume contest or food fests in the courtyard. Even though I came from many schools and each one has special memories for me, Galileo might end up being the best, and I hope to be more part of this community.
