Soccer squad silences Academy

It was a dominant start to the 2022-23 season for Gal Boys Soccer as they defeated Academy 6-0 at home on November 16th.

Early in the game, Galileo found themselves with a free kick in the attacking third of the field with junior Alan preparing to take it. He crossed the ball to senior defender Adam B. who scored the opening goal.

Later in the first half, Adam found himself involved in another goal as his long pass met freshman winger Alejandro, who then scored one of two of his goals on the play. In the second half Alejandro found himself in front of the goal again, after a run, and scored his second goal of the game.

Other goals came from sophomore left back Leo who scored 2 goals, with incisive runs through the defense and clean finishes, while freshman Dima joined the scoring with a floated shot after a great run.

Academy proved to be no match for Galileo, as the mighty Lions outclassed them in every aspect of the game. Academy never looked to threaten Galileo on the attack, and their defense was stretched thin by Gal’s clinical attack force.

After the game, Adam B. said, “We looked really good today. And this wasn’t even our main team. I think when everyone is cleared and ready we can go really far this year.”

The Lions look ahead to Lick Wilmerding, who they’ll play on November 30 at 3:30 at Gal.
