Galileo Clubs With The Best Attendance

With over 50 registered clubs, Galileo clubs help students engage with one another, find interests, and build community. While many students register for clubs, the amount of students who actually show up may vary, as many don’t attend meetings or commit to the club. Given all these factors, the Galileo press did some research to find out, “What are the top 3 most attended clubs at Galileo?”

Averaging about 25 students per meeting, the Art Club has the highest number of students who show up regularly. The purpose of this club is to build a stronger community around the love of art and give back. For instance, the club made a large number of paper flowers for Love Fest. They try to focus on how they can create art and give it to others as a form of appreciation. They work on a new project every week, and this year they’re really attempting to concentrate on building a community.

This club is sponsored by photography teacher Ms. Partridge who hosts the club meetings in her room 451 every Thursday at lunch.

“It’s really enjoyable to be able to have an opportunity to try out a bunch of different new art projects and be able to do them with other people who enjoy doing the same things as you.”- Zoe G.

Connecting high schoolers to volunteer events throughout the city, the BuildOn club has around 20 members who attend each meeting. A big thing this club has done is when they partnered with the BuildOn organization, where they helped fund raise money to help build schools in other countries.

The BuildOn club meets every Wednesday at lunch in room 413

“I enjoy this club because it’s really free and chill, it’s not restrictive, if you don’t want to participate you don’t have to.” – Senior Celinia L.

“I like attending BuilOn because it gives us opportunities to make connections with event hosts. There are a lot, there’s festivals and we manage carnivals as well so it’s very fun and interactive.” -Senior Evelyn Y.

With 20 members who typically attend meetings, the Class of 2027 is off to a strong start as a class and club. The purpose of the club is to bring the people in the class together, work on community events & fundraising. During Christmas, the club sold candy grams, where they wrapped candy inside bags and delivered them to people.

The Freshman Pep Club meets every Wednesday in room 153.

“I enjoy being a part of pep club because it really gives me a chance to make new friends and it’s really important that I make friends because I am a freshman because it’s a whole new environment.” -Freshman Maya M.

“I enjoy the club because personally I think that it’s engaging for students

to feel like they belong in a community.” – Freshman Issac M.
