Muir Woods field trip photojournalism

The four AP Environmental Science classes went on a Field Trip to Muir Woods to go on hikes and learn about the redwoods and history of the Monument last Friday, March 8. Students met at the front gate at 9:00 and the 2 buses filled with 53 students arrived at the Muir Woods Trail head around 10:15. After a talk from a Muir Woods Ranger, students began hiking into the trail, noting observations and sketching nature. After lunch, students went on a second hike up the Canopy View Trail, stopping for a few minutes of silence before heading back to the bus. “A lot of people haven’t been to Muir Woods before and so its a good experience to see something like a totally different ecosystem then what’s in San Francisco”, says Ms. Kwan, “And Muir Woods is like a National Treasure, I feel like everyone should see it.”
