Reading A Book

By Jonathan Lau, staff writer

What I did was read a book, something that I haven’t done in a long time mainly due to everything being online recently, and also the fact that I really dislike reading. I wanted to try and read something new because as time goes on, most things are becoming digital and accessible online and I find that I may regret not reading a physical book when most of them start to be available online.

Ever since I was young, I always disliked reading and despised books, more specifically, novels because I always felt like they would never really benefit me.

The last time that I read a book was in junior year, I had to read a book as an assignment for my english class, but the last time I read a book because I wanted to was probably in middle school.  I found some books lying around on the shelf and I figured that since I haven’t read a book in a long time I should give it a try.

I read a book titled “Gone” and the story revolves around teens who live in a small town located in California and they begin noticing strange things happening such as the disappearance of people they know. I read for around 30 minutes a day for a week to finish the book and what I noticed is that reading a paper book is pretty relaxing and a good break from the computer screen because that’s what I have been looking at for the past year practically. Although the novel is pretty lengthy, I still have a mild interest in it everytime I finish reading my daily portion of it. I would recommend this book to people who like it, especially for younger people because it is thrilling and entertaining. I also think that the book is suitable for any age in terms of reading level.

I recommend this to anybody, especially younger people because there is no doubt that most things will be available online and that paper books will become ancient in the future. I also find that if you have access to a book that you haven’t read yet, there is so much time at home nowadays that there probably won’t be any issues fitting reading into your schedule.
