Going into my senior year I thought applying for colleges would be difficult and stressful in general, and when the pandemic began, I thought it would make things even more difficult. However, I found all those feelings to be unfounded. While I thought the college application process was going to be difficult, it turns out that while it was a lot of work, it wasn’t necessarily hard. The key for me was having friends that I could check with and ask questions helped a lot.
Going into the whole application process, I was very nervous and felt unprepared because I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into, but I was very thankful for the extra time being at home because it allowed me to be very flexible with all the applications. I think this really helped with me stressing over everything because I did them during the same time I was having finals for school.
Asking for help from friends and teachers was unexpectedly easy and I think it’s mainly due to the fact that most people are at home and not doing much. Me and my friends would compare what we answered for each question to make sure if we were doing things right and if I ever had a question regarding college and applying, I would just email a counselor and they would get back to me the same day which was very helpful.
And with all this time on my hands, it allowed me to spread my work out more and helped me be more relaxed. While many things have changed during the pandemic, I think the college application process is one of the few things that would still be the same, if not easier because I had more time to complete it and less stress in dealing with it.
