Creativity and versatility were key characteristics found in Halloween costumes all throughout Galileo this year, ranging from Benjamin Franklin to the Lorax! The Galileo Press evaluated and ranked the top costumes that were spotted on Halloween at school!
5. Shockwave from Transformers
To start off our ranking, we have Senior Elijah L. as Shockwave from Transformers at 5th. This handmade and innovative costume was made from pieces of cardboard boxes that were then painted over. Elijah’s choice to include small details such as the yellow eyes and plates on the arms and legs adding more creativity to the costume.
4. Benjamin Franklin [pop quiz: what is Mr. Cadette {on he left) dressing up as?]
Taking spot #4, Health Academy teacher Mr. McDowell nailed his impression on Benjamin Franklin! From the hairstyle to the colonial outfit taking us back to the 1700s, it is spot on in terms of accuracy. Additionally, his choice to include the key and the kite as a prop alludes to Franklin’s historical ad monumental discovery of electricity.
3. Pirate and Ariel
Ranked at number 3, we have Senior Darryn W.’s hilarious and humorous costume of a pirate capturing Ariel, the Little Mermaid. The reason why this is an entertaining costume is because of the illusion that it paints. It makes it seem that there are two people involved in the costume, however there’s only one person. Additionally, the red wig brings out the boldness and brightness in the costume, capturing the viewer’s attention and making it even more silly.
2. Uncle Fester and Wednesday Addams
Coming in at number 2, we have our famous scary duo from hit Netflix show “Wednesday”, Uncle Fester and Wednesday Addams! English teacher Ms. Peters joins psychology teacher Ms. Ung, to put together this accurate portrayal of these two TV show characters. There are many little details that were put into this costume which added more of an effect to the overall costume! For example, the light bulb demonstrates Uncle Fester’s ability to conduct electricity and personality and the headless doll that “Wednesday” is carrying represents her sadistic tendencies and sociopathic personality.
1. The Lorax
Coming in at number 1, Galileo Press introduces to you: the Lorax! Senior Jennifer A. did an awesome job at emulating this unique and spunky orange movie character with creative touches. From the bushy eyebrows to the billowy mustache, her costumes brings out the silliness and eccentricity, capturing the essence of the Lorax!
