How Fort Mason has made my Galileo experience special

Throughout my years at Galileo there have been only a couple spaces that I can go to to relax and have some peace and quiet. One of the places that has stood out has been Fort Mason.

It has stood out because not a lot of people go there, so it is usually quite peaceful and quiet and there’s no one to worry about while I eat my lunch or just walk around. There’s lots of benches and different spots that have shade when its a hot day and there are spots in the sun for cold days.

I found Fort Mason by going on walks with my PE class in freshman year, but we didn’t go on a lot of them. The walks basically showed me the layout and the main routes of the fort but to find the nice spots that many people didnt know about I had to go on my own time.I would go during lunch and sometimes after school and that’s where I found most of the spots that I used to go to.

Another reason Its one of my favorite spots is because there’s a lot of nature, and not just green trees and plants but its also right next to the water. This makes it an amazing spot because of all the fresh air. The noise of the trees and water splashing is also really relaxing.

Whenever I would have a test coming up or a big project I would usually go to fort mason and work on it.  Whether that be studying or working on a packet that was difficult, the combination of the nature and the sounds and the fresh air was the perfect combination for a relaxing time to work on school work or eat some lunch.

If I had a stressful day or I just wasn’t feeling good, going to fort mason and taking a walk through nature and smelling the ocean water and the trees was really calming and let me get my thoughts together.

Fort Mason has made my experience at Galileo more enjoyable and peaceful especially when school was stressful.
