After finding out that his two brothers were sick and his father was past the retirement age to run the family business, English teacher Mr. Moir stepped up for the family to keep the business running, but he didn’t love his job. However, when the pandemic hit he saw it as an opportunity to leave, so he officially left the family business in June of 2020 after working there for 12 years.
Although he spent a lot of time running the family business, Mr. Moir was happy for a chance at a career change. One thing Mr Moir likes about teaching is how he can bring his work home. He says that it’s the only job he knows where reading literature is part of the job description. He also enjoys the chance to be a mentor to students, as well as learn from this new environment.
“I’m very happy with [being a teacher]. It’s a pay cut but I’m also in a place of life where my family can afford for me to go down this path and right now frankly I couldn’t be any happier this is where I wanna be,” said Mr. Moir.
