The Galileo’s boys volleyball team faced a difficult 2 game stretch when they played against the top 2 schools, Lincoln & Lowell, from April 6-14, and unfortunately, the team came away with 2 losses, dropping them to 7th place with a record of 1-2.
In the match against Lowell on April 6th, the first set of the game was 25-16, the second was 25-23, and the third and final set ended with a score of 25-15. Head coach Mark Huynh said, “The game against Lowell had a horrible start. We were nervous but we played better during the second set. We could have won but we weren’t able to pull through for the second set, and lost the third”.
Despite the loss, opposite hitter Tylan P. didn’t feel terrible about the loss. He said, “We did the best we could and made the best out of the match, especially because we played against a big hitter [ a “powerhouse” school].”
For the game against Lincoln, the first set ended at 25-8, the second set at 25-10, and the third set at 25-15. According to the players, the game against Lincoln had a lot of mistakes. However, the front row was able to score a few kills, and the back row was also able to keep some balls in play, but it was a crushing defeat overall.“It was horrible. We stood no chance. Lincoln crushed us. Lincoln is a good team. We just didn’t play well,” Coach Mark said matter of factly.
Despite the losses the team hasn’t given up hope on the season. Coach Mark said,“the outlook for the rest of the season seems to be good. It all really depends on next week’s performance”.
