7 Day Challenges

After an entire semester of distance learning, most of us can argue that at some point we all felt tired of our mundane tasks we completed routinely each day. That is why a couple of our journalism students decided to take the liberty of livening and bettering themselves by committing to a simple task. For an entire week, these students made an effort to focus on one objective, ranging from a change in diet, academics, or even waking up to run each day. Some experienced changes in mindset, others had physical changes, but some way or another everyone had at least one interesting development that they yielded from their experience.

  • 7 Day Challenge: Stopping the snooze
Since the start of my junior year of high school, my sleep schedule has been increasingly inconsistent, with late nights leading to late rises. The complexity of my classes has jumped, going from all regular classes to three APs and an Honors class— which has come with more work, and many late nights—causing me to ...
  • 7 Day Challenge: No Junk Food
The new year is about starting fresh, starting new so I decided to challenge myself. I decided to stop eating junk food for a week and hopefully keep on going with the new diet I am forming for myself. Why I chose to do this challenge was because I wanted to feel better about myself ...
  • 7 Day Challenge: I tried being consistent at art…
In an attempt to be actually fast at sketching, unlike how I normally am, I set aside a piece with a deadline to try to do seven unique sketches for a week in a row. I decided to do this challenge because I’ve been getting pressure to open commissions, despite saying I’m not really interested. ...
  • 7 Day Challenge: Youtube Workouts
With almost 1 year of staying at home, my physical activities went from daily volleyball practice and conditioning to no physical activity at all. So for my seven day challenge, I wanted to attempt to start getting more active and exercise for at least 30 minutes daily. Previously during the beginning of quarantine, I had ...
  • 7 Day Challenge: No Meat
When given the option of either doing a 7 day challenge or an editorial, I immediately knew which I would choose. Over the past couple of years I’ve learned a lot about the problems the meat industry causes and the benefits a meatless diet can have on the human body from documentaries and the ...
  • 7 Day Challenge: Running 1 mile a day
I haven’t been very active during or before the quarantine, but doing nothing isn’t going to cut it for me. As the days go by, looking at my monitor every day, I felt mentally that this is life. However physically I’m going to slowly turn into a koala. So I thought to myself, “I should ...
  • 7 Day Challenge: Depriving Myself of Matcha Lattes
Coffee. Most people I know drink coffee on a daily basis. A bitter hot substance to kick start their day and to keep them awake for the rest of it. For me though, it’s iced matcha lattes. And not any ordinary matcha, starbucks’ matcha. It’s an addiction and I will run miles and miles just ...
  • 7 Day Challenge: Drinking a Gallon of Water a Day
The 7 day challenge I chose for myself was to drink at least a gallon of water per day for a week. Throughout the last four years, I’ve been battling acne scars and hyperpigmentation, dark spots on my face. I heard that drinking lots of water can help clear out scars and even hyperpigmentation, so ...
