Ms. Talbot

What do you like to do when you’re outside of school? Favorite hobbies?

I like to read a lot. I also do knitting, and I like to reorganize things, like my closet.

What type of music genre do you like to listen to?

Anything to do with pop; I’ve been listening to Taylor Swift’s new album

Do you have any secret talents or skills?

I like to draw and paint and maybe one of my secret talents is people talking to me. I’m very talkative.

What led you to this job?

I didn’t have a counselor in high school and the person who stood in as a counselor was my coach and told me I wasn’t smart enough to go to college and that I should consider going to technical school.

I noticed a need for counselors when my kids were younger and I had a privilege to go see a counselor but I was raised by a single mother and I know that not everyone is able to drop in see one has the privilege to do that. I wanted to be the person who’s there for families and students to be able to help them transition to middle school and high school because it’s hard to get through school and not be able to get support you need and I want to  be able to support them from my past experiences

What motivates you to work hard?

I want to do the best for my students

What do you like/love about your job? What do you least like about your job?

I love the interaction between counselors and the students. They keep me young, but I don’t like all the paperwork. I dislike how the paperwork takes my time away from my  students
