7 Days of Inspiration (Melanie Arriaga)

By Melanie Arriaga, staff writer

Inspiration is a crucial part of my life, it allows me to view my perception of reality in a different way. I believe it gives color to life and a sense of power. Feeling the surge of inspiration is a one of a kind of feeling, it’s a rush of adrenaline that flows within you, allowing one to conquer the day.  Inspiration allows me to wake up each morning with a sense of energy and determination. However I  used to lack sources of inspiration until the stay at home order was in effect. I have found inspiration in the daily object and people around me.

This beautiful swirl of pink and white is a mix of acrylic paint. The beauty of paint inspires me to paint more and to complete the painting. Completing a painting requires patience, effort, and inspiration.

Colorful food inspires me to eat more healthily, the more veggies I eat the more healthy my body is and I can perform academic tasks at a more efficient rate. Not only that, but eating colorful food also helps me feel happy.

Personally, a student’s desk or environment determines their work performance. My significant other’s workspace inspires me to wake up early, make a healthy breakfast and find peace in my workspace. The cleanliness and simplicity of this environment motivate me to have an organized setting free of distractions.

My Puppy, Bombon, constantly reminds me to be responsible and take care of her needs which also reminds me of my needs. Sometimes I forget to feed myself and drink water, but Bombon inspires me to get up and take care of myself, and her.

Every morning I wake up and I try to implement other morning activities into my routine that makes me excited for a new day rather than having the same routine; that causes me to feel mundane. Consuming coffee inspires me to wake up and get things done.

When I see flowers and the beautiful colors they carry on a gloomy day it motivates me to stay positive;  the loveliness they possess along with their unique smell makes me feel calm.

One of my sources of inspiration lately has been my sister. Seeing her study late into the night whilst also seeing her have fun, inspires me to also be like that. I don’t always have to be serious or hyper-focused on my academics; I can allow myself to be silly.
