Although the pandemic forced her to come back as a biotech teacher, Ms. Schwanes passion lies with her previous job, running a business teaching young adults about sex education.
Prior to running her own business Ms. Schwanes had been a classroom teacher for 12 years but was inspired to start her business when throughout her teaching career she saw a lot of her students dropping out because many were getting pregnant.
“Sex education teachers are there for a little while and then they’re gone, the kids are dropped and then they are unable to ask their trying questions. That’s why I was trying to help parents steep into the role and being comfortable with being their child’s primary sex educators. And the person that their child is comfortable asking for advice,” says Ms. Schwanes.
