Mr. Schwager

By Myles Chu, staff writer

Having had a “crappy” experience in high school himself, English teacher Mr. Schwager didn’t want others to repeat what he went through, which  is one of the main reasons he decided to become a teacher.

According to Mr. Schwager, teaching isn’t just about talking in front of students all day long, but it is about being around them that makes teaching enjoyable. He loves working with students and by showing them the beauty of learning, he hopes to bring up student morale in class, and in the school, in general.

While this may be Mr. Schawager’s first year teaching, he is focusing on caring about the wellbeing of his students and having students feel positive associations with being in the classroom. He feels like the best thing so far about being in the classroom is being able to connect well with his students.

Mr. Schwager feels that securing a connection with his students is what allows them to have more confidence in themselves, which helps them to feel more comfortable learning new things. Building relationships with students is what Mr. Schwager is most proud of, saying, “It’s rewarding to be able to build that connection with students.”
