Becoming an ELD teacher has been both dutiful and meaningful to ELD teacher Ms. Hong, as she enjoys teaching bilingual students who have language barriers, as a way to honor a teacher who she credits with helping her get into, as well as complete college.
Ms. Hong, who was born in China, grew up in Hong Kong, before immigrating to America. Teaching has been in Ms. Hong’s blood as there are 3 generations of teacher’s in her family. Her parents, who taught in China, taught many successful students and these students would often come back to visit her parents. Seeing these relationships that her parents built with their students, planted the seed for Ms. Hong to follow in their footsteps and build strong relationships with her own students..
For Ms. Hong, teaching is a lifetime challenge that she enjoys. She is not only teaching her students, but they are also teaching her as well. She says “Everyday I am learning from students, improving my teaching profession. Young people are always so passionate. They challenge new things and learn new technology so easily.”
