Mr.Crockett

By Andy X., staff writer

Tutoring since he was in high school, Math teacher Mr.Crockett originally planned to make tutoring a career, but with encouragement from his mom and the first family he tutored for, he decided to go into teaching instead.

Mr.Crockett enjoyed being a tutor because he was able to work more closely with students in a 1 on 1 environment. He also enjoyed the ability to choose his own schedule and knowing exactly what the students he tutored needed from him. Mr.Crockett would also get feedback from different students and parents so he knew what students or parents wanted.

While Mr.Crockett enjoyed these things about being a tutor, he felt like he could help more students, particularly those who couldn’t afford to hire a tutor, by being in the classroom.  He started as a student teacher at Washington High School  last year and is now starting his teaching career at Galileo.

While coming to school in person at Galileo has been an adjustment for many students, it has also been something that math teacher Mr. Crockett has had to get used to it as well after getting comfortable with teaching remotely during his first year of teaching at Washington HS.
