How many years have you worked at Gal? How many years as department head?
I’ve been here for eleven years and four as a DH.
Why did you decide to teach at Galileo?
This place has a good school rep, great students and it’s in a beautiful part of the city.
What are your extra responsibilities as department head?
As a department head I am responsible for supporting other teachers in the department, ordering supplies and administrative paperwork.
What are the benefits/ drawbacks
The Benefit is working closely with other teachers. A drawback is seeing less students.
What is your least favorite thing about being a DH?
Probably the extra meetings.
Why did you want to become department head?
I wanted to become a department head to have professional growth.
How hard is it to balance your tasks as a department head and classroom teacher
I don’t have enough time.
How do you think other teachers would describe you as department head?
Hopefully they would describe me as supportive.
What qualities do you bring as department head?
I’m pretty organized and good at administration tasks.
