After being hired as a temporary Algebra 1 and 2 teacher at Galileo for the 2021-2022 school year, Mr. Crockett was forced to seek another job elsewhere due to the lack of open math positions for the following year.
This led him to working at John O’Connell Technical High School, a vocational school only a quarter of the size of Galileo. While at O’Connell, he was part of a small 4 person math department where he taught Geometry and participated in a pilot program for a new Data Science class.
But when Galileo reached out about open positions for the 2023-2024 school year, he happily accepted with the added benefit of going back to teaching the same algebra classes he taught two years ago.
“I really liked working here. The students are great and the math department is really wonderful,” said Mr. Crockett when asked about why he returned, noting his enjoyment of the larger school community. He has since occupied room 154 and hopes to keep teaching algebra to incoming freshmen and upperclassmen.
