Students now have more opportunities to experiment with new class options since the newly implemented 7 period bell schedule for the 2024 – 2025 year. Currently there are limited course options and even more limited teachers, we at The Galileo Press asked, “What class do you want to see at Galileo and which teacher do you wish taught it?”
“I would love to teach an interdisciplinary cooking class here to learn about the science of it all. It would also be really cool to get the Health Academy students involved!”
– Mr. Lee (Chemistry)
“There should be a dedicated class for Asian American Studies and History. Although U.S History classes try to go over as much as we can, it is not mentioned as heavily. It would be beneficial for our Asian American students to see themselves in their own history and I would want Ms. Lee to teach this class.”
– Ms. Tang (APUSH, US History)
“We should have more classes besides the academic ones such as an autoshop, metal shop, or woodworking shop. I think any qualified person should teach those classes.”
– Mr. Thayer (Geometry / Algebra 2)
“I would love to teach a 3rd semester Calculus class or a Linear Algebra class because I sometimes need to review the topics myself. It would also be really cool to have a group of students interested in the topic.”
– Ms. Nelson (Calc AB / BC, Pre – Calculus)
“I think AP Psych would be a cool class to have because I wanna go into the medical field and I think Mr. Cadette should teach.”
– Ivy M. (9th)
“I want there to be a cooking class because I enjoy cooking. I hope Ms. Maroun teaches it!”
– Minji P. (9th)
“I would love a ceramics class here at Galileo because it can be applied to different situations, it’s very precise, and there’s math involved. It also allows for variety in other hands – on art classes!”
– Claire C. (10th)
“I would like Mr. Matsumoto teaching AP Psych because it seems like a good class to have.”
– Kylie W. (10th)
“I want there to be a Japanese class because it’s an easy class and an easier A for me. I would like Ms. Sakura to teach the class as she knows Japanese.”
– Kaito N. (11th)
“I would love for there to be an AP Sleeping or AP Nap Time class because high schoolers should get more sleep than kindergarteners. I think it should be graded and that Mr. Chinn should teach it.” – Sharon L. (11th)
“There should be more science classes offered here such as Astrology, Geography, and Zoology because our school name says that we are the ‘Academy of Science and Technology’. I wish for the Marine Biology teacher or AP Physics teacher to teach these classes!”
– Alex P. (12th)
“I think it would be useful to have a class dedicated to teaching us about taxes as it’s an important life skill. I think Mr. O should teach this class.”
– Stephen Z. (12th)
