With college applications right around the corner, seniors are scrambling to decide what colleges they want to attend and what they want to major in. Imagine if you could get into your dream college without any financial worries and study whatever you’d like. We, at the Galileo Press asked seniors, “If money were no object, and you could choose whatever you wanted, what college would you pick to go to & what would you study there?”
“I’d go to Juilliard for theater or the Institute of Culinary Education. In theater, I could act out a script, but also have the creative freedom to immerse myself within a character. With culinary school, I can show my personality in different ways through food. Both are different mediums of expression.”

“I would want to be a D1 athlete as a gymnast at UCLA because they have the best gymnastics program. I did competitive gymnastics when I was younger, but got injured, so I didn’t have the chance to go back. While being a gymnast, I would like to study Data Theory, which studies mathematical data science.”

“Joining an orchestra as a concert pianist has been my dream since childhood. I was inspired by Lang Lang, and would like to study music at USC’s Thornton School of Music.”

“Through Brown University’s open curriculum, I would create an independent study relating to Post-Colonial Studies and Public Policy. I want to see how modern economic and government policies uphold colonial ideas.”

” I want to go to UC Santa Barbara as a cosmetology major. I see myself becoming a makeup artist for famous actors, actresses, or singers down near Los Angeles after getting my degree.”

“I want to go into film and movie production at New York University because I want to be surrounded by skyscrapers while I attend school. In terms of film and movie production, I like being able to collaborate with other people and seeing a huge project being able to come together. I’m most interested in creating horror films.”

“Had money not been a factor, I’d go to Carnegie Mellon University, majoring in Drawing and Painting with the endgame of being a tattoo artist. By leaving San Francisco, I’d like to study in the East Coast, specifically Pennsylvania, to get away from the West.”

“I’d compete D1 in high jump and study Ancient History at Yale. I want to become a teacher who educates students on ancient civilizations like the Romans, Greeks, and Byzantines.”

“I would like to be a D1 cross country runner running 10k at Stanford while majoring in Industrial Design. My grandma lives in Palo Alto, and I want to be able to live near her. For Industrial Design, I want to learn how to create products in a more eco-friendly way.”

“I would like to attend Caltech. It is known as one of the top technological schools and has a high graduation rate. Graduating from Caltech would open up many more opportunities in the job market. “

“I would go to UC Davis majoring in mechanical engineering. I love working with cars and I see myself learning more about it at Davis. I know a lot about the area surrounding UC Davis and would want to be familiar with my college campus.“
