Thanksgiving Poll

By Jamie Deng and Juliana Ramirez

While this will be the 2nd year of celebrating Thanksgiving with COVID, there are many differences between last year and this year. With people being vaccinated, many are planning to have a more “normal” Thanksgiving. So the Galileo Press decided to ask fellow students and teachers,  “What are your plans for Thanksgiving break during this year’s pandemic?”

“For Thanksgiving break, I am going on a trip with friends, coming back to celebrate with family. Take niece and nephew to a warrior game or 49ers. I am looking forward to the break. Although taking a break, I have to write papers and grade papers.”

-Mr. Matawaran (World History Teacher)

“For Thanksgiving break, I was planning to travel somewhere, but it was too expensive. Instead, I am staying here and my younger brother is going to come to visit me. The last time I saw him was a year and a half ago. This year I am trying out a vegan Thanksgiving dinner, which I never tried before which is exciting.”

-Ms. Harte (American Literature Teacher)

“For Thanksgiving break,  I would like to be done with my applications for colleges. As a senior, that is my current top priority. Hopefully, the application process will not take long so I can have time for myself. If I am done with everything, I will go out to skate with friends and family in order to destress during this time. I am very excited for Thanksgiving and wholeheartedly wish that I can get everything [college applications and schoolwork] done in time.”

-Daira Chel, Senior

“For Thanksgiving break, I’m going to travel to see family in Springfield Illinois to have a big dinner, pray and do family activities. After that, we are going to finish Christmas movies and talk about what type of person Drake is, and about further family reunions.”

-Jarvis Thompson, Junior

“For Thanksgiving break, I’m going to have a family dinner with my relatives at a restaurant. Afterward, we are going to end it off by going shopping. I’m not going anywhere special this Thanksgiving. But I am glad we have a one-week break from school. I am also going to start decorating my house for Christmas since it is coming soon.”

-Jenny, Sophomore

“For Thanksgiving break, I’m going to Plumas Lake to see my cousins. I went last year on Thanksgiving and decided I wanted to go again this year. We are going to watch movies and play soccer. I haven’t seen them because of COVID and I am really looking forward to seeing them and spending time with them.”

-Mattheson Dobay, Freshman
