Bonding Over “The Regular Show”

By Yovanny M Staff Writer

I had a lot of fun memories as a kid, but the one that stands out the most was the ones I made with a close friend I used to have.

I was 9 years old and he was 12 years old when he moved into the apartment complex I used to live in. I was glad to see someone close to my age because everyone else there was older than me which meant I didn’t really have many friends. His mom came over to our house one day to introduce herself to my mom. His mom introduced him to me and my mom introduced me to him, we had a lot of things in common which is what made our friendship even stronger, that’s how we discovered that we watched the same show.

My friend and I would always watch our favorite TV show called “Regular Show”. It was a cartoon that always aired on Cartoon Network every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. I would go over to his or he would come over to mine on those days.

I still remember on my birthday he gave me a pillow from one of the main characters from the show, so I decided to get him one for his birthday too. I had the Character Rigby because I was short and he had the character Mordecai because he was tall. We would recreate scenes from the show with our pillows and just have fun.

My friend was a little older than me at the time he was in 6th grade and I was in 5th, he would always teach me and tell me about the things that the older kids did and would also give me advice, in a way he was more than just a friend he was like a big brother.

Unfortunately, he and his family moved back to Oregon and at the time I didn’t have a phone so I couldn’t really get his phone number or any form of social media which was really disappointing.

I will always cherish these memories because I looked up to him, he was like the big brother I never had. He would always give me advice on life and would lead me to the right path and teach me between the wrongs and the right, I hope that I get to see him one day.
