The Senior Squid Games Pep Rally

The senior class cabinet decided to host their first pep rally, with a “Squid Games”  theme on Jan 22, 2025. Although all senior classes were encouraged to come down to the Van Ness gym during 4th period, barely a third of all the seniors were able to attend due to the fact that many teachers decided not to bring their class down.

Despite the low turnout, the seniors who did attend were able to participate in 3 different games. For the first game, it was red light, green light, with 3 different versions that were played.  The first version had everyone walking, another one on a cart, and the last one everyone had to run. There was only 1 winner for each round and they’d advance to the next game.

Moving to the next game, it was a tug of war. There were also 3 different matches where the winners played against each other.

Finally, the last game was musical chairs with 2 games played. The first one was with anyone, in which Islam won and received a discount from the ASB store or free food from the food fest. The second one was with people in ASB and Miya won.

“We planned on doing “Squid Games” because it’s a trending show and that way we could get more engagement. The show also had a lot of teamwork so we thought it would help a sense of community,” said Jia Ming, the senior cabinet recording secretary.
