Desperate for “Galentines” Sales

The ASB is desperate for ticket sales for “Galentines” on February 7th, at the Italian Athletic Club as only 140 have been sold while the goal is to have at least 300 tickets sold. In an attempt to boost ticket sales, the ASB has held several different promotions and giveaways to get more students to attend.

“We were very desperate that we had to go to every class period during 4th period and embarrass ourselves in front of many classes” says ASB Treasurer Kenny T.

One way to encourage more students to buy tickets is the ASB moving to the courtyard during lunch for more notice, while also grilling hotdogs to boost ticket sales, & offering a free hotdog with every ticket purchase or a snack from the ASB store. Students who bought the combo ticket deal received two free hotdogs or could choose two snacks from the ASB store.

ASB President Mia F. says, “We needed something to give students an extra motivation to buy tickets and in doing so creating a good vibe in the courtyard also. “

Another way they tried to boost sales was by having ASB President Mia F., Social Vice President Megan L., and Business Vice President Betsy D. visit classes during the 4th period to promote the upcoming dances and encourage students to purchase tickets. Together, they visited at least 20 classes, spreading the word and getting more students excited to buy tickets.

The third way ASB tried to promote the event was by sending out emails through StudentVue, announcing it through the classroom phones, and consistently posting on Instagram for more ticket sales.

Many students have said the Valentine’s Day culture is one of the main reasons for not wanting to go to the dance, believing that they have to bring a date to go. However, Betsy says,” It’s not about bringing your boyfriend or girlfriend, but it’s for people to get their friends and have fun because this dance is open to everyone.”

Others have different reasons for not going which include wanting to wait for the other upcoming school dances. Junior Gavin G., says, “I want to save my money for the Junior Boat dance because it is one month after ‘Galentines’ and most of my friends aren’t going.” Senior Angela D., also said, “The dance was planned at the very last minute and I also want to save up for the Senior Prom.”
