Shattered Lights: Galileo’s Boat Dance Takes an Unexpected Turn

This Saturday, the Galileo Junior Class hosted its Boat Dance aboard the Red and White Fleet. What started as an exciting night on the water quickly turned into horror when a group of students danced so hard that they ended up shattering a light fixture above them.

The dance floor was in full swing, with Galileo Students busting out their best moves to songs like “Apple Bottom Jeans” and “California Girls” from the DJ. However, during one particular pop song, a few attendees’ enthusiasm escalated to new heights. In a moment of intense choreography, which involved pumping the arms up and down, one guest—whose identity is unknown—accidentally collided their fist with the light above, causing it to crash to the ground.

“I was dancing and then suddenly I saw the light falling,” said junior Cindy Ou, who happened to be a few feet away from the incident when it happened. “It was like everyone froze for a moment, and then it all just went quiet.”

No injuries were reported despite the incident, and the dance resumed. Galileo’s Junior Class, however, was left scrambling to fix the situation. “We’ve never had an incident like this before,” said the Junior’s corresponding secretary, Saoirse Cruz, visibly stressed by the unexpected turn of events. “We deposited an extra $2,000 just in case of damages. Although the light may not cost as much, it’s within our contract that they will take the 2,000 if they come over any damages.”

With the incident unresolved, the Junior Class faces uncertainty in both the shattered light’s aftermath and the damages’ potential financial impact. While the Red and White Fleet staff cleared the broken light quickly, the night ended with lingering concerns about the consequences of the mishap.
