A Prom Night At The Museum

By Yovanny Mex, Staff Writer

Hosting this year’s prom for the first time ever at the Academy of Sciences made for a memorable, fun and exciting event for many students. Galileo students and their guests, some from different schools, helped make up the almost 400 tickets sold.

As part of the festivities, the class of 2023 set up two photo booths, a 360 degree camera, and two crepe stations. While the dance floor was set up on the piazza stage between the planetarium and the rain forest, the Academy also opened up the aquarium on the bottom floor for about an hour so students could go and take photos.

WIth a brand new venue and a lot of planning, those who helped organize prom believe that the event turned out well. Prom committee member, senior Lam T., said “I think this year’s prom definitely reached our expectations. It was very fun.”

Most attendees believed that prom lived up to all of the hype. Senior Mariah M. said “Prom had good vibes, good music, the environment was nice and the scenery was nice as well, the Dj was also very good, he picked out good music to put on, overall prom was fun.” While senior Eduardo V., added, “Prom was great. I really loved how they opened up the aquarium for the students and how they had different activities to do, the Dj was good, he had good music taste. Overall, prom was like a movie. I really enjoyed it.”

While most people had a great time, there were also those who thought prom wasn’t spectacular. Senior Jose C., said, “Prom was good but it was kind of overwhelming, overall it wasn’t anything special because you kind of expect the same thing for every prom.”

At the end of the night the prom court was announced which included; Giuseppe P. and Christine W. being named king and queen, Vincent L. and Jolie Z. being named prince and princess, and Diego C. and Julia L. being named Duke and Dutchess.
