This year there were multiple Seniors who are nominated for an award in an individual department at the Move Up Assembly. The Galileo Press interviewed the winning candidates for 2023 and here’s what they had to say.
Jacob. L won the AVID Pathway award, he did this by working hard and dedicating himself for AVID, he would always help out in extra activities to make sure everyone had a good time in AVID, he felt very good winning this award it made him feel like he was on top of everything .
“He is hardworking, has diligence, he’s organizer and also a good leader”
Mr.Xavier – AVID Teacher
Jessie. C won the Computer Science Pathway award, she won this award because of her work ethic, she has a lot of passion and interest for computer science.
“She has done well in my class, has done well in multiple tests and also she has helped with many extra curricular activities outside of class”
Mr.Tan – Comp Science Teacher
Kaden. T won the Media Arts Pathway award, he won this award by being inclusive and for involving many people in some of his projects which made him really stand out.
“He did the most work this last year editing highlights of Galileo activities”
Mr.Machtay – Media Arts Teacher
Ariana. L won the Biotechnology Pathway Award, she did this by always participating in class, attending Biotech one and two and also by attending internships that included Biotech.
“She asks the best questions, she is clearly qualified, she took biotech 1 and 2, she has done other outside internships involving biotech and she is also my TA”
Ms.Schwanes – Biotech Teacher
Ray. S won the Startup (Entrepreneurship) Pathway award, by participating in many of the projects in his class, he has done a lot of fundraisers for the class, and is also a good leader that knows how to manage a team.
“Ray has been in the start-up academy since junior year and over two years he has grown so much. Ray has taken a strong leadership role. We all really rain on Ray for a lot of help and support and he always accepts the responsibility as a leader. He’s a great student, he’s our right-hand man!”
Ms.Ly – Start Up teacher
Finn. H won the Environmental Science Pathway award by asking a lot of questions, involving himself in a lot of conversations, and overall just participating in class.
“Nobody’s has never participated in her class as much as he does volunteers every time, he always gives full 100% participation and is a good edition to the class”
Ms.Franzen – Environmental Science teacher
John. Y won the Health Academy Pathway award, by being an outspoken person in class, volunteering in many of the activities that Mr.McDowell Assigned.
“John is an extraordinary student, who embraced our learning journey, purchased his own manikins and simulators to better learn the material and he also volunteered to teach cpr for the American heart association and some of the health classes at Galileo, he’s been very supportive of the students in the class. We were lucky to have him as a student.”
