After moving with her daughter to California in January of 2018, Ms. Talbot was touring various schools throughout SF, and happened to stop by Galileo. Although the school didn’t have any official tours to give, they were gracious enough to show Ms. Talbot & her daughter around. The moment Ms. Talbot entered the school and the counseling office, she promised herself that this was the place she needed to work at.

Even though Ms. Talbot was still in graduate school, her daughter coincidentally got into Galileo. At first, Ms. Talbot didn’t think she should work at Galileo since her daughter might think it’s awkward for her mom to work at a school where her daughter attends, but her daughter was actually in favor of it happening.

Ms. Talbot’s first year at Galileo was only as a temporary position. Although she was new, principal and vice principal at the time, Ms.Benau and Ms. Kiss, were wonderful advocates for Ms. Talbot’s growth.

Luckily for Ms. Talbot, even though her temporary position ran out of time, she was able to come back the following year, and later on, the school, was able to create another position just for her to get her to stay at Galileo.

Ms. Talbot’s position in the last couple of years  has involved a lot of creative stuff that has been  able to highlight her strengths. She later eventually got hired full time here in Galileo to do social merciale stake hoarder partnerships doing a lot of creative things with a lot. Alor that was her specialty she’s good at making connections and making sure people feel good about things and pulling them in.

Looking for more of a leadership role, Ms. Talbot saw there was a head counselor position in the school district and she chose to take this opportunity. She felt prepared with the experience she had at Galileo, running Frisco Week, doing all city college restrictions, and her experience the overall experience she’s had here has made her feel confident and prepared for this kind of leadership work.

Ms. Talbot is excited to be able to reach more students, and this will allow her to get more into her leadership role and the creativity she’s only gotten to show a little bit so far. She’s not sure how long she’ll be gone, but she thinks she might be able to return one day . She wants to face more challenges and try to grow more out of her comfort zone.

She’s looking forward to learn more about the intern process in her new position because she’ll be working with student interns and it will be interesting to see how it works because you have to figure out finding students, helping them sign up for internships, placing them in those internships, and figuring ways to engage more students for these internships

Galileo will always be a part of Ms. Talbot,  as she admires the school and knows it will always be holds a special place in her heart, and she’ll always appreciate the time there.
