Outdoor Enthusiast; Ms. Eggerson

With a love for all things outdoors, new counselor Ms. Sabrina Eggerson takes every opportunity she can get to explore the wilderness. From a young age, Sabrina started as an environmental advocate attending clubs and organizations promoting environmental awareness, and where she would go on trips with organizations like camping outside and practicing sustainable fishing fostering her love for nature.

Ms. Eggerson discovers tranquility in nature and thrives on exploring the world’s diverse wonders. She said, “Being outdoors helps me to relax and think through the things going on in my life.”

As an example, during Thanksgiving break, Miss Eggerson traveled to Portland, Oregon with a couple of companions to enjoy nature, from the beautiful coasts to the forests on the Redwoods Trail.

One aspect of the outdoors that Ms. Eggerson especially loves is fishing, as she finds comfort in the tranquility of fishing. She likes to sit patiently until a fish takes the bait, and feels like this is a great time to cool off.

During her Oregon trip, Ms. Eggerson won a fishing competition, beating out over 200 other contestants. Sabrina won first place as she reeled in a salmon weighing 20 pounds. For her prize, she won a brand new fishing rod and a trophy to serve as a testimony of her victory. Sabrina says, “This was my first fishing competition; it was kind of an amateur competition. Still, it felt pretty good to win.”

Another place Miss Eggerson has traveled to enjoy the outdoors is Costa Rica. She wandered the country and saw beautiful sights, from black sand beaches to the Manuel Antonio National Park, to petting a capybara. She said, “I love the beach so it was really fun to see the black sand and the sunsets were unreal.”

During vacation last year in April, Miss Eggerson went to the Great Sand Dunes National Park. She said, “The view was breathtaking and the juxtapositions between the sand and the mountains were spectacular. People were sand-surfing, and as for camping near the site, it gets pretty chilly at night dropping to lows of 30°F. There’s no better feeling than sleeping under the stars and waking up to the fresh chilly air in the morning.”

Originally born in North Carolina, Miss Eggerson went to Western Carolina University for her undergraduate degree, and then Colorado State University for her graduate degree before settling in San Francisco as a counselor at Galileo because of the eco-friendly nature of the city and its beautiful hiking spots.
