Trying to be taken seriously as a rapper and make a career of it, Coach Nick N. has been your local rap perfectionist for the last 34 years. Starting at the age of 16, inspired by his brother, Coach Nick has performed all over the Bay Area, including at Union Square, Oakland, Bart Stations and ‘Enemy Territory’. During that time, Coach Nick performed over 52 shows a year, won multiple first place trophies at talent shows & rap competitions, as well as produced over 10 albums.

Originally starting out by writing poems and singing in high school while at Galileo, talent shows were a huge thing for Coach Nick. Although he faced tough criticism at time from hardcore judges, Coach Nick perfected his craft ‘Soundwave Studio’ in Oakland. Coach Nick’s motivation behind his lyrics was to simply make sense and stick to a concept that people could learn from while listening to his music.

Going by the rap name of ‘Homey Nolte’, all of that came to an end once Coach Nick deciphered what was more important to him in his life. Instead of rapping, Coach Nick became the football coach this past year, already fulfilling his needs in his rap career previously.

“I did everything I could to chase my dream..now that that’s over, I didn’t go to school, I don’t have this yearning to go out and this yearning to be on stage..that’s gone because I did it all, I put it all on the line, did everything that I could and I can live with that, ” said Coach Nick.

Receiving the benefits of coaching and helping students, Coach Nick is content with being a part of the Galileo Community. Hoping to reach more goals in life and teaching others, Coach Nick will continue to be a great resource for any concerns students may have regarding your future.
